Campaign Story

Thank you for your consideration for the IVF grant. My name is Fachon Foreman and I am writing this statement on behalf of my husband, Bobby (49yo), and I (34yo).

I obtained my masters degree in social work with a concentration in children and family services. I have dedicated my life to improving the lives of marginalized families by working in child protective services, intensive in home services, and as an ACT Team Lead. I previously volunteered as a guardian ad litem and currently serve as a volunteer in my church’s youth ministry. My husband earned a master’s degree in public administration and has been employed by the American board of pediatrics for 13 years. He serves beside me as a middle grades youth ministry volunteer and volunteers on the Johnston county juvenile advisory board.

My husband had a vasectomy reversal in April 2024 and we have been trying to conceive for the past year. I was filled with hope and joy to embark on the journey to become parents. Watching my husband demonstrate his love for me by making dietary changes, join the YMCA and work out three times per week, take dietary supplements and medication to promote his fertility fills me with deep appreciation and love, knowing that he’s fully committed not only to our shared goals but also to building a healthy future together.

After contracting COVID from the children we serve in July 2024, his sperm count significantly declined from 12 million to 0.15 million. We were devastated as we were informed that we may not be able to conceive naturally and recommended that we consider IVF. I mourned and questioned why we were experiencing challenges with expanding our family after taking care of everyone else’s?

Holding on to our faith, we decided to wait two sperm cycles and were elated to learn that his sperm improved in January 2025 and we were candidates for IUI. At the time of this application, we have attempted two rounds of IUI without success and are in the process of the last round that insurance covers. Preparing for an IUI while reaching the milestone of one year of no’s and watching others celebrate the beauty of motherhood was difficult.

While we are dedicated to exploring every option available to us, we are not naive to the fact that time and finances are factors that pose barriers to us holding our child in our arms. Most couples have time to try to conceive naturally longer than one year and save for IVF. However, we are at the start of our marriage and the need for IVF was an unexpected circumstance. The grant would provide us with the access to start our IVF journey now without having to overextend ourselves with personal loans.

We would love to be considered for this grant to ease the financial burden of growing our family.

Thank you,

Fachon
